Best free AI watermark removers

Short answer: for a visible watermark on a photo or screenshot, WatermarkNinja (ours) is free with no account and no cap on photos up to 40 MB. WatermarkRemover.io and HitPaw Online also take video, and Cleanup.pictures is free but exports at 720 px. We checked each on their own pages. Last tested 27 October 2026.

What WatermarkNinja does, and what it does not

You paint over the mark and an AI inpainting model rebuilds the background behind it. The full tool can propose the area for you to check, and the result is a PNG. Results are best on fairly plain backgrounds such as sky, wall or fabric. These limits are real:

Visible marks only. It does not find or remove invisible or embedded watermarks.
Still images only. For a video, export the frame you need first. If you need a video tool, WatermarkRemover.io and HitPaw Online list one.
A solid logo is harder than a semi-transparent watermark, and a mark over a face or a busy background can leave traces.
Free photos stop at 40 MB; the optional pass lifts that to 99 MB.

The others, one by one

WatermarkRemover.io says processing is free on the website and lists images (png, jpeg, jpg, webp, heic), PDF and video (mp4, mov, webm). Its page does not say whether free output carries a mark, and gives no prices.
Cleanup.pictures lists unlimited images on its Free plan, with exports limited to 720 px. Higher resolution needs Pro.
HitPaw Online presents a free online video watermark remover and links to paid features. It does not state file size or export limits on that page.

Which free AI watermark remover has no sign-up?

WatermarkNinja needs no account and no sign-up, and has no cap on how many photos you clean. Of the others we checked, WatermarkRemover.io does not say on its page whether an account is required, and Cleanup.pictures and HitPaw Online do not say either.

Is WatermarkNinja really free?

Yes: photos up to 40 MB, JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC, no account and no per-image fee. An optional one-off pass (5 euro for 30 days, 3 euro for 24 hours) only raises the file size limit to 99 MB.

Can it remove an invisible watermark?

No. WatermarkNinja removes visible marks only: you paint over the mark and the background is rebuilt. It does not look for invisible or embedded watermarks.

Does it work on video?

No, only on still images. For a video, export the frame you need and clean that. HitPaw Online lists a video watermark remover for MP4, MOV and AVI, and WatermarkRemover.io accepts video up to 2 minutes.
